Welcome to Ombudsman Educational Services, a trailblazer in providing alternative education programs for middle and high school students who have dropped out or are at risk of doing so. As part of ChanceLight® Behavioral Health, Therapy & Education, we are dedicated to changing the trajectory of children’s lives by offering them the opportunity to create successful, independent futures.
About Ombudsman Educational Services:
Ombudsman Educational Services has been at the forefront of alternative education and dropout recovery programs since 1975. Our commitment to flexibility is reflected in our schedules, offering morning, afternoon, and evening sessions. This adaptability ensures that students don’t have to choose between life and school, providing a unique and supportive environment for their educational journey.
Program Highlights:
At Ombudsman, we focus on providing academic, social, and behavioral support to empower students to earn their high school diplomas and make positive choices for their futures. Our alternative education programs contribute to combatting the social and economic costs of high dropout rates. Since our inception, we have educated over 155,000 at-risk students and those who have previously dropped out, opening doors to the opportunities that a genuine high school diploma provides.
Academic Excellence:
Ombudsman Educational Services utilizes research-based curriculum resources to deliver a rigorous and relevant instructional model. Our teacher-led instruction is tailored to each student’s success plan, ensuring they earn the necessary credits to graduate. Our programs are accredited by AdvancED and aligned with Common Core and state-specific standards.
Making a Difference:
Our educators at Ombudsman have a special passion for working with at-risk students, knowing they make a real difference in the lives of young people who may not otherwise graduate from high school. With a low student-instructor ratio, Ombudsman teachers help students remain focused, motivated, and engaged in learning. Our blended learning approach, which includes enrichment, teacher-led instruction, and small group collaboration, is differentiated, and personalized to meet the specific needs of each student.
Ombudsman teachers inspire and guide students to make positive choices about their academic progress, attendance, and behaviors. They receive the necessary materials, supplies, and administrative support to be effective educators, understanding the impact they make on the lives of their students.
Professional Rewards:
Working at Ombudsman means being part of a dynamic company that provides a true career path. Our teachers have opportunities to learn, grow, and advance professionally, from becoming learning center directors to operations managers overseeing multiple learning centers, and even assistant vice presidents with responsibility for multiple regions in a territory. Many success stories within our organization highlight career progression, with our Chief Operating Officer starting her career as a teacher in an Ombudsman learning center.
Quality of Life:
Ombudsman teachers share responsibilities within small learning communities, freeing them from supervising after-school clubs or activities. They have the opportunity to review assignments and evaluate student work during the day, providing a work-life balance where their time is their own once the class day ends.
